Those are both BLRW the top bird has black lacing in the front but I see blue lacing in the wings and tail. Both are blue laced red wyandottes. I would call them pet quality and you should get tasty eggs from the hen :) The bottom is most definitely a rooster. Good luck with them!!
I've been hatching BLRW for a few years now. I've probably hatched close to 1000 if not more... I've never found a good way to sex my wyandottes at all. I've tried feather sexing and it didn't work at all. So unless the seller can vent sex I'm sure you have a straight run. So you should...
This is good advice!! My Wyandotte roosters are very tasty at 18 weeks... If you plan on raising and breeding chickens its almost a must to be able to butcher unwanted roosters... Just something to think about.
If you mate:
Blue X Blue = 50% Blue . 25% Black , 25% Splash
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue , 50% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Splash X Black = 100% Blue
Black X Black = 100% Black
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash
These are based on mating of 100 chicks. It is possible to...
x2! #5 might turn out to be a darker Splash. I just got done raising up about 100 chicks and I LOVE this breed so many variations in the Blue-black-splash.
You know I can't let this slide... I know your not intending to ask me but my nic name is Alex short for Alexandria!! so here's a few pictures of some of my black BLRWs
This is a black BLRW I purchased as a chick from the Foley's. Although he was beautiful and was very good with the hens he was...
This same thing happened to me! only it was my 5 year old daughter. I ended up finding my super flashlight under the down stairs bathroom sink. And with the flashlight was a bunch of other missing things! ha ha ha KIDS gotta love em :)
x2 nice dark red on that pullet! I have a splash hen from the Foleys as well She is HUGE!! and gorgeous! But she was broody all summer and I couldn't break her. She is the most stubborn broody I have ever had. So I got very few eggs from her to set. I do like her though :)
