I have a young roo. He is apprx. 15 weeks. I got him from Piglet but due to my health problems am cutting back. I am NPIP and A1 tested clean. You would need to pick him up as I do not ship.
Mine were from Mt. Healthy. Mine before had all been good but not last yr. I got them from a local farm store dealer and he got them in the day I was there. I got them from his box as he opened it, no chance of getting a disease there.
I can barely wait for these to come. As the saying goes...
I also had orps from hatcheries die last yr. No known cause and I am npip and A1 certified. This yr. I have ordered from Piglet. He has non hatchery orps. I am expecting them today or tomorrow. I can barely wait. He still has more if someone wants to order from him they are 8 wks old. He...
I can barely wait I have ordered buff orphington chicks today. I have to get their little coop and run ready. I will have 3 hens and a roo. Naturally they will be spoiled. Thanks Piglet.
Does anyone in the east have buff orps. that are not hatchery stock?????? I don't particually want any English in them but a small amt won't stop me from getting them. Please let me know.
Speckledhen, Where can I get really nice American orps.? I don't want the hatchery ones. I had two last yr. Both died before laying.. I have never lost young hens like that. No disease was obvious. I would like to have two chicks or hatch some eggs in May.
They were right. The wing carriage, the top outline and tail angle is better on the first. I like the color on the bottom one though. I am not a judge just a small flock owner but that's my 2 cents.
I have the lig. from TC. I use 1/2 cc on my chickens except the roo who get 3/4 cc. He is big. I use a needless syringe to measure it with. I put drops on the skin near their vent and on their head. Is this what you were referring too?
Patience !!! is definitely a virtue. Wait till Spring. You will not be sorry. I made that mistake once. Now I quarrel with myself to wait. The chicks will be healthier and you will enjoy them more.
When we are buttoning up for the cold do not forget ventilation at the top. Otherwise we will have lots of cold hurt combs to deal with. That warm moisture from the hens must have a way out the top edges. Also the yr. that I buttoned up good and heated the water bowl I lost many hens to resp...
I have a 1/2 eng.blue orp that has an attitude but all the others for me at least have been gentle giants. She is still pretty but really is hard on some of my other hens.
