Just curious who else is living super frugal

Quote: I LOVE that quote!!! And yes! Definitely check those bulk prices everyone. I use to assume that buying in bulk was cheaper, but I also found that it's not always the case. I do like how Kroger (others stores probably do it too) tags break the price down into 'per ounce', etc., so...

Quote: I know they say "Never say never," but I really can't see SS checks being neglected - I personally think it's a scare tactic.

I've seen others mention him, but just wanted to put the name out there again for interested folks to check out Dave Ramsey. Listen a few times to his radio broadcasts, try The Total Money Makeover (book)..advice for folks struggling with getting out of debt, and celebrations for people who've...

Quote: I think it's great that you and DH are younger, and starting to think this way. Some folks I know think we're odd, because we don't buy into the whole "keeping up with the Jones'" thing. But when you get to the point where you have no credit card payments, no car payments, no mortgage...

So what ARE folks stockpiling??? I buy extra bags of sugar when it's on sale. I'd also still like to know what foods are freezable (besides milk) that the average person doesn't necessarily think of being freezable, so that when certain foods are on sale, you can stock up...

Quote: Well, we bought a small deep freezer that we keep in our basement, mostly for stockpiling freezable groceries (make less trips to the grocery store). I'm not sure how long you could keep it frozen??? But once thawed, I keep it as long as I do regular milk. So if I froze it 10 days...

Quote: Amen sister!! (or brother). And don't forget cable television! My grandpa is 100 (has a better mind and memory than I do), so of course lived through the great depression and has seen the highs and lows of our economy over the last century. He says people these days don't know what...

I was so happy to see other Dave Ramsey fans on here. We became debt free two years ago, including our mortgage!! I'd strongly encourage others to look into his program. What's a bit sad (DH and I were just discussing this the other day) is that despite having no house, car, or credit card...
