Just curious who else is living super frugal

I've seen others mention him, but just wanted to put the name out there again for interested folks to check out Dave Ramsey. Listen a few times to his radio broadcasts, try The Total Money Makeover (book)..advice for folks struggling with getting out of debt, and celebrations for people who've become debt free...
The hardest part for us was sitting down and writing out a clear budget; I'd always been fairly frugal, and had always had some kind of budget in my head. But writing it down was another story, and it was HARD to do for me for some reason...maybe because it was scary seeing things in black & white. Dave's ideas really helped guide my (and DH's) efforts to become debt free.

I got my Fels Naptha soap...and I don't like the smell. I am allergic to EVERYTHING and scents really bother me. If I make laundry soap with only borax and washing soda - is it going to clean as well as if it had the Fels-Naptha in it? Anyone?

I don't like Fels Neptha, either. It also put holes in my kids' clothes. You can use Ivory. You just want to use soap and not "deoderant bars." Most of the things we think of as soap are really deoderant bars (Dove, etc.).

Scents really bother me as well. Everything I use as far as detergent, deodorant, soap, etc MUST BE free of perfumes and scents. So, if the Fels Naptha soap has a scent to it, then that is something that I won't be able to use either.

Making the laundry soap only takes a few minutes. I do the wet version and it makes a 2 1/2 gallon bucket full. You will like it.

Is this ONLY laundry soap or can it be used to wash hands and dishes too? Thx!

Not sure how we will handle it if we are to lose our SS checks by Aug 3rd if it does not pass. I hate thinking about it what might happen. Wished they would give us some time to sell or get rid of some services somewhere. Hate to get back on Public Aid.......

Living off only on hubby's wages, it is going to be very very very tight, and daughter wont be going to a better school, she would end up going to a school that has a very very poor grade in the state. UGH!

When will we know when Congress would say yes or no to the SS checks for our elderly, the disabled and handicapped children who needs it most?
