Well your right I should do something but....... I've been letting them stay inside the pen all night they are covered and have plenty of roosting space to roost . So they been liking that so far .
I just dont want to do anything to the coop because I know in the winter I would wish...

Look at this .Do you t hink i have enough ventalation ? Here are some pictures . The first one is the outside the rest are from the inside.
There is a 3" gap there . Covered by wire . Do you think I need more? Its on both sides of the coop .

Thats cool !No pun intended ! Ha ! Now I am too ! Did you see the coop ? do you think raccoons will reach through the fence and get the chicks while they roost ?

I did do something like that i put a 1x1 piece of wood through there and wired it up in two places . What about raccoons ? You think they will grab the chickens before they wake up? i guess they can grab them but I thought they would wake up and jump if they had to. what else should I...
Well all done!! I dug a 12" trench around the whole coop and put wire all around and buried it !! Now I will feel better at night so hopefully no animals will get at my chicks ! I will be leaving the door open at night so it wont be to hot inside .

Well last night was their first night out ! And they did great ! The girls went to bed at a reasonable time , and everything went well ! Thanks for all the help !

Now thats the answer i was looking for I do have a run that's enclosed and you would need cutters to get in . .... Or maybe a shovel ? but i dont think thats going to happen . i will try to leave the door open and see what happens .

It has been getting quit warm at night here in New Jersey and I know that the coop where I keep the chicks at night will be great in winter time . But what about summer time when it gets really hot at night I dont have a window that I can open for them . There is openings at the underside...
