Any advice on keeping the temp of a bator stable during a heat wave? I have a cooler bator that has holes drilled in the bottom and it has a lamp and fish tank heater. I have switched on the aircon in the room to keep the temp stable in the room.
ok so for my first incubation project I got 2 out of 6 chicks
Considering that the eggs were messed with at lockdown I'm lucky 2 hatched.
I checked the two remaining eggs this morning both were perfectly formed but did not pip internally.
Did some upgrades on the bator, made ventilation...
I think its awesome, the 3 remaining eggs are moving now and then but no pipping yet. I'm just glad they are hatching after the kiddies played with them after lockdown. My sister went and bought stuff for a second bator lol she just wants to hatch chicks now.
I noticed that the chicks tend to go to the egg that is hatching next, these two are cuddling up to the egg that is hatching next.
Does that always happen?
Good luck, lockdown is the worst the waiting and constant staring through that window for any sign of hatching ...
But once those eggs start rocking and you see the pip and hear the peeps it's awesome
I'm on day 20 the eggs were supposed to be in lockdown ... they picked up the eggs to look at them.
I'm going to wait it out and see if the other chicks made it, poor chick I'm going to open the egg when I get home to see how far along it was. I saw it kicking on day 18 they must have...
Just found out my sisters kids were messing with the eggs for the past two days while I was at work, I am livid. Should I candle and check the other eggs or just wait and see if any of them hatch? Is there anything I should do, just worried the bad egg affected the other eggs?
I went to check on the eggs this morning and the egg I mentioned was oozing brown liquid I removed it immediately, it does not smell but I do not want to take chances.
