Orschelyn's is where I got mine. TSC, Atwoods same thing. Even Wal-Mart carries nice digital hydrometer/thermometer for under $20. They have a little cord that allows it to fit through a window/bator. Mine goes through a vent hole on the bottom. No need to open the bator.

I candled the eggs cant see movement, I'm leaving them for two more days. The one has a dark spot in the airsack not sure what it could be.

Probably not but you can get one cut----then drill it for all the hinges/straps etc. I personally like the viewing window thats cut in the wood door.

Stryker, I let my eggs check my digital thermometer----works great.

What does everybody use on the wire mesh bottom (if you have it) during hatch time? I've seen some people put down paper towels, porous mats, towels, etc....or nothing at all. Not sure if it matters. Just curious.

I use the wires. It gives them a better grip and may help prevent bent toes.

non slip shelf lining would work better that for the incubator bottom than smooth papaer. I use paper towels for the first several days in the brooder and then pine shavings after that.

I use that cabinet liner with the holes and that seems to get the air through and also it helps catch that chick slime and poo so it does not as easily fall through the screen to the eggs below. I also use paper towels on the bottom of the incubator floor to help with easier cleanup. When hatch is over all of it goes in the trash. The first time I used a cabinet incubator and I had nothing down and that was the a dirty incubator by the time I took the last chick out. Now the cabinet liner is well worth it.
