Yes ours will jump on a shoulder when you least expect it. They fly quite well but don't see where they are going at times. We are often warning eachother when one is looking to jump up. "Chicken alert!"
Easy going chicks, but our roo was bi-polar!!! If you turned your back, he would attack, but if you sat down he would jump in your lap to be petted. Our hen is still an attention hog. She will peck your ankles to be picked up.
Here she is on a recent "bad hair day".
Thanks. I find it interesting the different techniquies and things that people look for. I am always learning something on this site. I take the parts that work for me and leave the others. The egg floating thing in interesting, but with working full time, I don't see that becoming a part of...
When I candle with my LED flashlight at day 7 I am looking for wigglers and veining. I did notice I have one sideways air cell. As they progress (day 14) what exactly do you check for with the air cells? What do you mark your eggs with? It looks darker than a pencil.
He was just born in April. We have a ways to go. Just now getting him accostomed to a halter and teaching him to mind his manners. All this is new to me with the llamas. We have had the ladies since last April and they are certainly training me.:/
Really, just putting up the fence. He is really awesome in tolerating my hobbies. He grumbles a little but he knows if Mama's happy, everyone's happy.
I want to get 2 females, bred and a different male. We aren't planning on going into breeding but I want to keep the option open. We are...
Awsome to know. I was considering it anyway. I hate to waste anything.
We lived in Spain and they kept eggs in the grocery store in an isle, not the cooler and if you bought them at the market you better have your own bag or crate, otherwise you were juggling eggs.
I did it!! I candled! Pretty happy, found 23 of 78 clear. I need to report to my breeder that his silkie roo is not doing the job as I took 13/17 out. Luckily all the egg I candled today were freebies. I still have 11 purchased eggs that I will candle Monday.
Someone asked for a candle...
Never burn a bridge! You don't know when you might need it to escape!
We already have 2 ladies and a baby. We got them for fun. I am planning on training the baby to pack and show perhaps. I wanted to do that with the ladies but they are a little less interested in listening to me than...
Guess you must decide which you would enjoy being with more. My guy is really pretty awesome. He tolerates my fluffy friends. Of course he doesn't know I have almost 100 eggs incubating this time. And that I am talking to a lady about 3 more Llamas.. He comes home Sunday so I will have...
Every month. How fun. If I did that, my family would disown me.
You can jump in with me, Alaskan and Calichik too. We have a hatch a long thread for those due around Aug 8th!
Thanks for the response. My incubators are borrowed from a friend who in the past has done loads of hatching. They do their job but the fanciest thing on them is they do have turners. Any tenp adjustments come from me!I have hatched before but never had to deal with the power outage. I know...
I know! Whenever I walk past the bators, I pick up the flashlight andtake a look. Don't know what I qm expecting to see, dancing eggs? I just can't resist! What is it that draws us in? Especially when we know they are no where cls to hatching!
