My first attempt at quail went into lockdown last night. I put all 14 in and have no idea how they are. I drove myself crazy trying to find a small/strong enough light to candle and all I could ever see was the shell spots! I gave up and figure I'll just find out in a few days. They're Gambel's...
I woke up to pips in my red dorking eggs this morning! Also, the last call duck egg is zipping 2 days later than the rest! That will bring me up to 10 call ducks for the week and I'm hoping for a decent hatch on the Dorkings even though I kinda messed up on the incubation by miscalculating the...
My call ducks are hatching! Had 2 hatch overnight all by themselves and 2 more external pips now. The red Dorkings should be hatching tomorrow or Friday and the turkeys go into lockdown tonight! You know what this means? More room for new eggs!!!
2 of my call ducks have finally hatched! More on the way...guess who's sleeping beside the incubator tonight? That's right, this girl! Let's go duckies!
CONGRATS! It's adorable! I had my first "loner" hatch last week. She's a Rhodebar and the only one to hatch from 14 shipped eggs and has now become a spoiled lap chick! I tried to put her in the brooder with the other chicks a few days to one week older but they picked on her relentlessly so...
Some of my Dorkings that hatched Thursday. I got 17 black and 1 birchen from 21 shipped eggs! These are project colors but now I have reds in the bator. My HRIR that were due late tomorrow or Monday have started hatching! 2 out and 5 more pipped of 40 shipped eggs! My Call and Black East Indie...
I just moved 30 eggs into the hatcher today. I was almost too late..One chirped at me and sure enough it pipped right then! So now I have 30 empty spaces and only 18 red dorking eggs being delivered tomorrow. How am I supposed to deal with a dozen empty spaces in one of the incubators? It just...
Welcome! When you say "Please help", do you mean help you find more eggs? That's the only help you should need! And why leave a perfectly good incubator empty for 48 hours? It definitely shouldn't take more than 24 hours to clean, sanitize, and get it back to stable temps! Good luck and enjoy...
They are black and birchen. I would love to be able to get silver! I got them from a breeder in Georgia. I had to have them shipped so I got 2 dozen to make sure I'll have a decent hatch.
I broke down and bought a 3rd incubator. Then there were empty spots in it so I just had to buy Dorking eggs to fill the spots! I'm going to have more chicks in 3 weeks! Plus my Buff Laced Brahmas and Lavender Orpingtons are hatching today!
