So next Friday I get to candle my turkey eggs to see if they are heading towards hatch or not. That will be day 14. Tomorrow is day 10 for the eggs. I was told to wait until at least day 10, but figured I need to wait until the 14th day since that is the half way mark. can somebody talk me down from trying to candle them tomorrow?

I normally candle on day 8 and 16 to mark progress

and egg's that hatch at 28 day's and longer day's 7-14-21

I was told to candle turkey eggs at day 14 and day 24. This way there was two weeks incubation to see changes and on day 24 I should see movement.

I say candle on day 10 AND day 14 so next time you know which choice would be better

Having a weird hatch.  Not sure what happened maybe temps dropped at some point.  I put eggs in lockdown friday, they were due saturday.  Only a few had hatched.  Today I checked them several were shrinkwrapped (my fault I forgot to add water yesterday)  but still not even half had hatched.  I candled the unhatched and pipped eggs and they were still alive and looked like they may have just been pipping internally.... just strange.  Looks like they will not hatch fully till Monday.... strange......

So do you usually only lockdown for 1 day?

I'm also curious what kind OS Candler you have. I'm thinking I need to go make one to better see through my turkey eggs.

We just transferred a ton of chicks from the hatcher to the brooder. Spitzhaubens, welsummers, Rhodebars, Orpingtons, Bielefelders, Jubilees, Barred Rocks, Augsburgers and more. Yea

Just candles and it looks like I have 8 turkey eggs doing nothing. 3 were absolutely clear. No dark spot to be found. Now what to do? Toss them? Re-candle with my husband and toss the ones he agrees on or wait until Friday to re-candle and see if they are late bloomers.

If they are clear toss them. I left a couple of Turkey eggs in that had something in them but not as much as the others. I need to candle today because there is a stinker in there somewhere.......
