I thought I was getting a grip on educing numbers of chickens this summer when I sold 20 pullets. Eight hens went broody and produced more live chicks than I sold. My hen house is now crowded, so crowded that one of my hens lost an eye fighting with another protecting chicks.

i helped one like this in March, the foot out of the pip kept it from turning and continuing the zipping process

I ended up with eight broody hens this spring, five of them are still on the nest, I needed to put the roosters back with the hens and start collecting eggs again because my incubator was turned off for the year, now I am needing to build more pens.

I might not be on this thread much longer.................I have seven broody hens.........I no longer need an incubator.
