Thanks for all the nice replys and input..this lady is selling her old hens for $3 each..for butchering..won't be showing any if she gets mine..just a nice farm lady I work with at farmers market..we've become friends..and I don't want to "take" her on this..yet I do have alot into these...

I have a flock of mixed breed hens..5 months old now..all to be good layers..I'm thinking of downsizing to 40 hens..have 55,have a lady interested..but..what do layers go for now? advise please...thanks??
