Sold most of my chooks today. Only Shiela, The Trude and Henny Penny left. I wasn't spoiling them the way I like to, and I want to make room for more ducks. I want to do some concentrated breeding with the calls and I'm not sure who I have to keep out of my last clutch
Mine do this too. I figure, if its a snake, I'll never see it. However, I fixed the gate on the pen and a couple of weeks ago they did the mass freakout..alarm quacks and clucks and i came a-running...to find a massive blue tongue crawling around puzzled by the new gate. It makes sense now why...
That is most definitely Henny Penny! Left the door open for a tic and in she went.
So sorry to hear about the hurt chook. I've dealt with fox injuries on my ducks its no fun
I just use plain soap and water on skin, and normal wash with ordinary washing powder, but if clothes have been especially farm dirtied (me and both kids, birds horses, pigeons, mud) those clothes go in on their own with a bit of generic brand super soaker- cant remember the active ingredient in...
Anybody ever had to move eggs that were hatching? I have 8 in the Bator that were due in about 4 days I started lockdown Saturday. In the heat today the Bator rocketed up to almost 40 and i used ice and cool water to bring it down, but temps still fluctuated a lot. When I candled I have one...
Hello all,
I actually did take some pics of Henny on the lounge, but I have to get on the computer to share them. No cats dont bother her...but she sure bothers them! My mum in law also has one that likes to come inside, and giving up is the only option, they like the game too much! She's much...
This morning I gave up. I heard the big flap that signified Hennible getting up on the lounge. I sat up, thought about it, then went, you know what, I don't care. And let her snuggle up with me and my son
Yes that is exactly it! Pampered house chook indeed! I've been worried about explaining to hubby about the bird poop - somehow I always miss the one he steps in - but something weird? She has not yet pooped in the house. Usually when a chook gets loose in the house poop party is the first thing...
I am officially suffering the invasion of Henny Penny.
This morning she was on the lounge - quite carefully not waking me up - my spidy sense went off, alerting me to something not right. When I stormed up, she squatted. 'hug me mum' I chucked her out, all doors definitely SHUT. Then at about...
Ok, I've done this whole toilet roll, take em out put em back in gag, and I had a lot of duck people tell me with the right torch you don't need to handle them AT ALL. So with my tiny winy bright LED in a very dark room I gave it a shot...and with a bit of practise I nailed it! This worked with...
Pen pics
This is the original pen, where the gate is broken and no one is locked in. The wire was set into a small trench and buried, mother nature did the rest. Impenetrable!
Pen two or duck jail, for over amorous drakes. Didnt have time to do the dig a trench thing, had to get...
My 'cat door' is just a very holy screen door. We used to leave it open, but all the chooks and Regina duck would just come in and trash the place...I put up a cardboard barrier which stopped Gina but not the chooks, so started leaving the door shut and the cats learned to jump through a hole in...
I'm so sorry. Its always hard to lose a friend. Glad I could give you a laugh. Hennible is a constant source of amusement. If the back door is even slightly open she charges in and rolls my son for his food
