Hi, I am not necessarily new here, been MIA since 2014 :th
I have since lost all my flock as they refused to go in there coop and they know roam free on another property  They are basically wild birds now and I see them occassionally but were never very tame.
I have ordered this...
Can the day go any slower? I am hanging out to candle the eggs on day 10 (when I will also weigh them) and I just cant wait
Anyone else weigh their eggs? I was going to mark the air sacs but I find weighing easier, provided I can get the right equation. Can anyone tell me if I have this is...
Just wondering, those of you getting eggs how many eggs you get.
I have 9 Brown Leghorn Bantams and I have been getting 2 a day for about the last week.
How long until I'm getting more? All of them are laying as far as I know.
Thanks in advance
So our chickens are finally allowed to get out and they are making slow progress, but I have heard them making some noise. One particular one that isn't ready to lay is very vocal LOL
Talking about rain today is finally sunny, all the other days we have had plenty of rain to the point that our...
I sorted it out the humidity issue in incubator and I'm going to do a dry hatch as it seems easier to follow. At the moment I have moved the incubator to my room and i put it in a Styrofoam box as i was concerned the box it came in want allowing enough air to circulate, but it takes so much...
So I got my first egg today
The only problem is that it was obviously laid on there roosting area So I have put a golf ball in the nesting boxes so hopefully that will give them the hint, if not I will put one of there freshly laid eggs in them
Ok thanks it has pretty much stopped at 77% but time will tell as I have another 5 1/2 hours (which will be 2am so leaving it overnight) will see what it is then and then try it out with an empty incubator ready for fertile eggs
I know lots of people have asked this question, but I am asking it with a twist. I used the damp handtowel method.
For those unaware of this method, you dampen a handtowel and wrap the hygrometer for 8 hours. If it is correct the humidity will be 99-100%
Well I am only about 2 hours in and...
I am so inlove with George it is not funny he is so handsome with all those colors and they are docile. Perhaps it is from being shipped but I hope they stay like that
My 10 brown leghorn bantam hens (9 months old) and rooster (he said it was 'old' )
I have 5 names so far:
Henny, Penny, Bertie, Gertie (hens) and George (rooster) any other names would be helpful (need 6 more LOL)
