They still could drop in on you, but they would stay a week. I think you need to invest in a teleporter and when you see them coming you beam yourself far away. I like in suburbia and the people I would like to drop in never have time to do so and the people I really could do without, drop in...

Nice pics!!! Babies!!! I love babies. My camera has a zoom built in, but when they even see me with it from a distance they run in all directions to hide. They don't do that when I have the phone to my ear or carrying anything else. I seriously think they are afraid of it. I wish it would rain...

Aren't animals nutty sometimes. I am glad I am not the only one that has to chase their animals around to get a photo. My cat and dog are camera hogs, but the chickens, guinea pigs, canaries and king quail are afraid. I only have a small camera and I don't stick in their faces. I am a little...

My chicken coop is under a stilted cubby house and we suspended some old guinea pig hutches for nesting boxes and it also has a roost. I am thinking about extending their coop up into the cubby house itself, so they have more room. When I let them out in the morning they climb up there and roost...

What do you call a yankie aussie? If you mate a lion and tiger you get a liger don't you? So what should we call ourselves? hmmm a yansie maybe? babyfoot, although my husband was born here in Australia, he grew up in his younger years in the UK and he has told me all about Guy Fawkes Day. I...

OMG! babies everywhere. Spring has sprung. Anyways, a lot of people on here think of me as a fellow Aussie. I consider myself mostly one too, as I have lived here most of my life, although I kept my country of births citizenship, I am a permanent resident. My kids and husband are all born here...

Lovely birds appps. We have wild fantails that come and visit us. Sweet, gental birds. I hate how the indian minors pick on them. The chickens hate the minors too and chase them, but don't chase the fantails.

Thanks satay. Have all those things handy around here. I am growing kale and bok choy in the garden. Got broccoli in crisper and if the kids haven't eaten it all, greek yoghurt. Sorry for my rant. It just upset me a lot. You are right you can't get everyone to understand that all animals should...

I am going to have a rant. I have been searching all over the internet for fertile king quail eggs. I keep stumbling over these parrot sites, that keep reviewing the king quail as an aviary cleaner. GRRRRRR I have corrected them as much as I could, but just their attitude about quail in...

The shell grit I use is mostly oyster shell. They also get scrambled eggs with crushed shell in it every couple of days. Is there anything else I can add from the pantry to bring up the calcium more? I don't have calcium powder, but I have calcium vitamins, Would they help? I am trying to put it...

Poo!!! found another shelless egg, pecked at. I don't know if it's from Omelette or not. Our RIR Chilli, has been acting like she is going to lay soon and maybe its from her? They have a huge bowl of shell grit in their coop that they peck at all the time, so I don't think its a lack of calcium...

Triple yolker wow! I use to have a leghorn that would lay monster eggs everyday and never egg bind. Once we had a 6 yolker. I would give her eggs to family and friends. They were amazed how many yolks were in those eggs. Sometimes she would lay 2 a day. She was an amazing chicken.

Are they new layers by any chance SandeeC? My new hampshire did the same thing. She laid two in one day and then a monster egg like the one above and then for two days she laid eggs without shells. She didn't lay anything yesterday, so hopefully she will today. She has only been laying for a...

Thanks rexy. Yes, I know a little about incubators. Other people had problems on here, but I am one to always double or triple check everything. It stops heart ache. I never trust other peoples calibration on things, as I have been stung before with other things. But luckily this time it was...
