I've moved food and water into where their boxes are, so she has easy access to both, but I think she prefers to come out and drink from the dogs water bowls instead!! lol
I've got a quick question regarding babies and mummy chickens..
Bit worried cos we've got a 35 degree day today and a girl on eggs.. She's been on them for a week yesterday, should I be worried about the heat?
Their pen can get warm, we do have a small sprinkler setup to help keep it a little...
We've got 9 light sussex eggs under our light sussex at the moment.
We did buy a dozen, but I have given 3 to a workmate who has put them under her langshan bantam :D
We didn't expect our LS to go clucky so soon... If at all... But I guess hormones got the better of her!
The only problem...
Gosh so many posts to catch up on. I'm too lazy to read everything! :(
We picked up some more day olds today. 5 more. Two welsummer (one cross frizzle), two australorp frizzle crosses and a cochin.
I think both our welsummers are little girls (was trying to google while picking them up but...
We think we could feel little bones amongst the ball in her crop so fairly sure it's the mouse.
Will tryy and help her along. She's had some antibiotics this morning also
I am worried one of the girls has eaten a mouse caught in a snap trap and it may be causing a crop obstruction... is there much than can be done?? :( She's got a small lump in the bottom of her crop, but nothing else :/
Cute! I was just wondering as we got a splash baby the other week, but I wasn't entirely sure as to what it will grow up to look like!!
I don't know how the splash thing works... lol
Having 6 indoor cats, I get to see acrobatics on a daily basis!
Agreed! I never have the camera or phone handy when they do hilarious things! Or by the time you get it, they stop :( lol
My dogs do really well with our chickens - granted they are all smaller breeds, but one is Border Collie x.
They have all learnt that chickens are not there to play with. I can free range my chooks with no worries about the dogs harassing them, only eating their food if the door is left open! >:(
Absolutely adorable!
We just took on a new foster dog here, a 5kg terrier type mix. He's pretty cute, shame about the nuts and cocking his leg on everything though!
We'll work that out of him, I hope!!
I am getting 3 eggs a day now, and I've seen my Polish hanging around the nesting boxes, so it must be her.
I had just read that Polish usually lay white eggs, so am assuming she may also be a cross....
I am excited as 3 of my girls are now laying.
I'm confident on knowing two, but I don't know who the third is.
It's either our barnevelder or polish, but I expected a darker egg from barnevelder or a lighter egg from the polish but it was neither really..
Bottom egg in this pic..
