they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

Anne, are you going to open the unpipped eggs? I did yesterday, in the middle of things, after I'd candled it. It hadn't developed very far at all, it was just a little meat spot. I guess I marked the wrong egg when I candled halfway because the one I marked hatched. Here are my babies...

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

Anne, I did that with the last egg. She'd pipped through the side of the egg, not in an end. Last night I told myself that if she was still good in the morning, I'd help her. There was a big difference this morning, obviously all the blood vessels had drained and she was ready to go except for...

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

I am proud to announce that I have two baby fuzzies and three pips. One egg is cold so I'm not expecting anything from it. I'm waiting on the remaining four. OMG this is too much fun.

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

Well Anne, I'll keep my fingers crossed for some good little rumpless babies for you! That would be fun. And very interesting about the tufted gene. I have a double frizzle and I wonder why he made it through hatching...is the frizzle gene not lethal like the tufted gene? I found a discarded...

I'm down to 9 eggs as well, Anne. Why would your eggs have a higher mortality rate because they're tufted? You've piqued my interest. And I changed the subject line

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

YAY! I'm so happy to have broody friends on the same schedule! My broody is a bantam RIR showgirl. I know RIR's aren't supposed to go broody, but this is one bound and determined girl. I hope she gets at least one or two chicks to raise. I put a bantam barnyard assortment under her. What kind...

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

I hope it's okay if I have a thread to myself for updates. I'd do it on my blog but I don't want my mom to see, LOL! My parents live next door and we rent from them. My dad is cool with all things chicken (in fact, we want to get him a turkey for father's day) but my mom will blow a fuse when...

they're under her! here we go! (hatches due 6/23)

I got ebay eggs this morning and let them settle all day, just put them under my broody girl right now. I put the best ones under her in the middle and a few "maybes" toward the back. We'll just have to wait and see what happens next! I'm planning on candling Friday or so. Wish me luck!
