    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

It sounds right to me in uncomplicated cases, I would think it would be higher when combined with an E. Coli infection. But we need to remember that the embryo and chick deaths should factor into the equation.

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

Here is what I have found. Even talking to the state vet's etc. People like to say "95% of backyard flocks have MG". But no where, not once has any study been conducted to verify that statement. Ask them how they come up with that number. They do not have a source. Not once. Ever...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

Unfortunately, most people think people are a little nutty when having a conversation like ours. It is when they are effected or someone close to them, that they start to pay attention. I dodged the bullet here. Literally came this close >< to having to cull $1000's worth of birds (they are...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

I have Orpingtons (different varieties) and just started a sizzle pen this year. They are soooo cute! You cannot advertise as being MG free unless you are certified. I suggest you advertise as testing for disease. Then have pictures of the lab reports within the advertisement to be able to...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

I have been selling for a few years. My waiting list is 6 months out (before I cut it off), I do not advertise. I could easily have a year waiting list or more. I would be happy to share other MG certified farm's pages or web addresses with inquiries. With that said; I do not have more than...

OMG! I had not seen that one. I am astonished that Ideal Poultry has that stance. I wonder if they still do? I am amazed that such a large producer would state such absolute garbage. Wow. Just wow.

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

Yes, vaccinated birds, regardless of the strain used for vaccination, will become carriers. The vaccinations were made for the commercial industry to slow the rate of transmission between birds and houses. MG slows the growth and weight gain of infected birds, so the commercial industry needed...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. It breaks my heart. I am lucky because I have Dr. Luna in the next town over from me. I had a NPIP breeder call me to give me a 'heads up' that the birds she purchased from another NPIP breeder came up positive for MG. The positive birds were in the pen...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

If the breeders of the silkies were not showing signs of illness, the percentage of vertical/horizontal transmission is lower. i.e. Signs of illness=Higher transmission, No Signs=Lower transmission. At this point I would quarantine any that are showing any signs of illness. You may be able to...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

So it looks like that is the preliminary necropsy results, and they have not done any culture tests. i.e. AGAR, ELISA, etc. There is inflammation of the intestine, due to E. Coli. A lot of time that is where you will start seeing signs of mycoplasma, when there are two infections going on at...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

There are "Do it yourself" kits available on line. Anyone can send in samples to any lab that tests for poultry mycoplasma. I personally have the state out every 90 days to test. I realize that this is not an option for most folks.

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

I agree 100%! I wish that the breeders that hide behind "Breeding for Disease Resistance" would get informed. I am so sick of hearing about people having to depopulate due to mycoplasma. I want these people to explain to my friend's kindergarten daughter that finds her pet chickens dying; how...

    MG Certified hatcheries/breeders?

Wow, I know this is an older thread, but it was extremely interesting to read. Mice do not carry it, there are no studies to say how prevalent it is in the US, and there are Independent flock owners that are MG certified. I would absolutely hate to think that anyone buys into the "it is...
