Today has not been a good day. My SIL woke me up at 6:22 this morning to tell me that one of our 15 year old cats had died. Someone's PET came in my yard and killed one of my cats. When I saw the prints in the driveway my first thought was coyotes, but when I thought about it, it didn't make...
I'll admit, the water was freezing, but I had a lot of fun trying to get used to it.
Deb, we always have blackberries this time of year. We actually missed the berries last year because we waited until May to go see if they were ready.
I did more blackberry picking today and that's what my dad has planned for the rest of the week. I guess the upside is I lost 2 pounds that I get to gain back in sweets. My mom is going to make jelly tomorrow after we get back from the feed store. I hope they finally have guinea keets. Of...
Ok here's the pic of the final count. There are three chicks in the pic that are crippled and you can't see one, but this is the best pic I could get.
And here's my cutest chick entry. I couldn't decide between them.
Now, I'm off to make Wild Blackberry Turnovers.
I still have chicks hatching. I think I'm going to float test the ones that haven't pipped tomorrow. The lone EE had to be tossed today. The shell was too hard for it to pip. I don't hold out much hope for the 2 OEs, but we'll see tomorrow.
I'm off to bed early. I've come down with a really...
Last night I had to cull a chick. There was just no helping it. I woke up to 4 freezing chicks in the brooder. I got them warmed up and put back. This has just been a bad morning.
In less horrible news, I have 6 or more chicks hatched in the bator!
This is the third hatch in a row that I've hatched out a crippled RIR. I'm not liking it at all. I still have chicks hatching and I still have a lot of pips. I think I'll be hatching through tomorrow and the next day if they don't hurry up.
I'm a bit upset. I had a crippled chick from the last hatch I did before this one and it was dead when I went to move the chicks out to the rabbit cage. It was fine this morning when I fed them. I guess the only good thing that came of it is my MOM said I could have silkies. My nieces (5 and 2)...
Well, I have another chick out! It's such a cute little bugger too. It reminds me of an OEGB.
Wisher, I'm glad the problem was sorted out and you can post now!
