Cochin Bantams and Frizzle Cochin Bantams!!

Hope someone has responded to you. You would get better responses with this if you put it on the diseases, emergency forum. Sounds like you are doing fine. #1 get rid of the mites, #2 treat the wound. I think neosporin is fine. Just make sure the others are not picking at the wound...

Cochin Bantams and Frizzle Cochin Bantams!!

Not sure exactly what you are asking, but birds can have different colors on their beak. Probably nothing wrong but might be a detraction if you are planning to show. I am not sure as I don't do a lot of showing. :-)

I am awful knowing the color standards. There are so many! But I would think posting a pic might help others who are more knowledgeable answer better. :-)

I located this. It could be switched if the mother were the frizzle. You just don't want both to be frizzled.

I am not a genetics expert but I don't think that it matters. You still have the same percentage chance either way to get the frizzle. I would look more for the other qualities that you want in the bird and pick the best combination based on that. That being said, if you have a frizzled roo...

Welcome to BYC! And congrats on your birds. I am not a breeding expert but I think for a Sizzle you need one of the birds to already be frizzled. Frizzles simply have the curly feathers. It is widely stated that you never breed two frizzles together due to the chance of having a bird with...

She looks very happy with her new flock. Maybe she will have feathers grow in if there was a bird in the other flock that had been picking on her. She looks plenty fluffy. I wouldn't worry too much about her in the winter.

@dawn secord Congrats on your new additions. I had a frizzle who would never roost either and he slept on the floor in shavings. We get below freezing during the winter quite often and he seemed to do just fine. I think their feather insulate them just fine, they just look different. I...

Love the pic WV! Honestly, a chicken coop can be just about anything. The most important factors are safety of the birds and giving them a place to get out of the weather. I think there is a coop thread on BYC that has a lot of ideas or you can google chicken coops and get all kinds of ideas...

I would think it will remain smooth. Usually at this point you will see curling. This one is less than a week old.
