The head dots relate to barred feather patterns, not breed. Buffs would not have head dots.

I want a smooth splash female! I've now hatched 3 splashes, one was frizzled and these 2 have shown that they are boys. Still awfully pretty, but why oh why can't I get a splash female?! LOL At 4 weeks, I still had hope. Now 5 weeks

So cute!! Nice setup too. I've found that the girls like to spar too, when they are that young, so don't count them out yet. For what my opinion is worth (probably less than 2 cents lol) I think the heat thing producing boys is an old wives tale. Might work in reptile eggs, but not in...

True! I crossed a few. About half had walnut combs, about half straight. Most did have dark skin, but very few had 5 toes. How are your babies doing Dawn?

I'm gonna say silkie mixes. Combs should be straight single combs. Do I see beards? Are their legs/toes black? Count number of toes.

Yes, there are blue and lavender. Blues are part of the blue/black/splash pool. There are multiple ways to achieve blue. This chart might help. Lavender is totally different. Lavenders must have 2 copies of the lavender gene to look lavender. They can carry one copy and still pass it on...

If they are usually hatching that early, you may be running your temps just a little too high. Some can survive, but some can't.

Just took this and she's 10 days old. Frizzle is obvious within 6-10 days, in my experience. Feathers start curling as soon as they start growing. :)

Had a decent hatch of my cochins last weekend. Shipped seramas not so great. But look at these cuties! Sold all but 2 of the cochins. Many looked to be frizzles. Now I have 8 more in one incubator on day 10, and 10 more in another incubator on day 2. :weee

Ah, I see. I'd love to know how well it does for you. I've seen them, but not seen many reviews on them. You can also pick up a hygrometer fairly cheaply. I would even suggest another thermometer too, because units can be off from the factory. Calibrated/verified meters can save lots of...

So on day 7, if the air cells look overly large, increase your humidity. If they look too small, decrease it. What are you running humidity at now?
