If it only spiked for a short period your probably OK.What kind of thermostat is it. I always take a Marker and mark the sweet spot..Then you probably can tell if it was moved by a gremlin ,kid, cat ,or whatever . If its still in same spot then you got something to go on.Room got too hot/...
