Our new male is out of confinement now and seems to have adjusted well. Unfortunately our drake has taken a fierce dislike to him and every time the pea tries to strut the drake is at him. /sigh
He's just regular old black shoulder. I left him alone last night to adjust so I'm interested to see what I will find out there when I get off work. I hope he's adjusting well.
He finally has a tail and that was the first time I'd ever seen him fan it. Both the rooster he was threatening and the peahens could have cared less but he carried on for a good 15 minutes trying. I was in the house and my angle sucked but I was happy to get pics anyway.
You are the closest I've ever found to me and your birds are amazing. If/when you get and sell eggs/chicks PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The tractor is actually one of the lower perches they can take. He honestly just sits there staring in the window. We had an old truck and he would do the same thing with it until we sold it. Now it's the tractor. Ugh! lol
Interesting. I'd hoped to get him to stop getting on my husbands tractor. It's driving my husband a bit nuts. He gets up there and looks at himself in the windows. That mirror is a broken one from the house. If it'll harm my birds I'll remove it.
I think the fact that we live in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing around helps. We have the most trees on our property and even they are small. Not much to encourage my peas to fly off really.
My goodness you should see that turkey wander around here. Everyone scatters out of his path because he doesn't care about anyone. I've seen him totally stand on top of chickens and such. I'm not sure if he's simply hugely stupid or if he's standing on them on purpose. When feed goes down, Lucky...
LOL I've no idea! I actually raised him completely on chicken food. I feed the same thing to all my birds and just throw down some cat food for extra protein now and then. He ranged a lot and ate up a lot of stuff. I think it has to be the water. We have the biggest dog I've ever owned right...
