Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

Well we got a bit of our run done yesterday so now the Chickens are able to come outside (at least while I am home) without me needing to be a hawk watching over them. Yesterday they got come out and sun bathe... it's been awhile since I have heard such happy Chickens I still need to put a...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

It is really sad how some people don't seem to understand that they should keep their dogs under control... and they don't know how to. Which is no fault of the dogs but is always blamed on them... shame on their owners And don't me started on uncles customers who think it is ok to bring their...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

I've often wanted to let the chickens free roam but we are really close to the highway and a business so I fear for them getting ran over, although I have known of chickens who will go to the road but never cross (because I think the chicken was really lured across the street by bread crumbs)...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

I like the idea of the trap, that might be a good thing to invest in (I know we have coons around so it may not hurt to possibly get them gone humanely as well....). I do feel bad about the situation since this is the only issue with the dog and as far as I know its the only time he ever beat...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

Oh I am sure my dog would win... I am working on building him a run around the perimeter of the chicken run as added protection... just trying to figure out the best way to do it so it is sturdy and tall enough (hoping to not have to cover that portion). I'm sorry! I wasn't trying to say that...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

In Washington you have every right to protect your livestock, and chickens fall under that category... I don't want to shoot the dog which is why I asked him to remover her immediately... And that is why I keep my chickens and dog in my property.... don't want someone to shoot them for trespassing.

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

On Page 2 I stated that I am building a covered run to protect the chickens from various predators. And had I of been there when he beat the living daylight soutta his dog I would have called animal control... but I didn't get the details until the day after, he didn't even approach me until 5...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

Hubby said he spoke with Uncle… so we will see how that pans out. Uncle is one of those people who only care about themselves and furthering their situation (especially since he suggested the replacement chicks really be HIS chicks... just live with ours and I take care of them). We are...

Am I over-reacting about my Neighbor and his dog who ate my chick? (kinda a lengthy vent)

So back in May we moved our chicks into their coop and we had their yard all set up with a fence to keep them from wandering near the neighbor’s house or the highway. They were so happy to be able to forage! But the second day they were out we left the house for a bit and came home to find them...
