    Well the chick is peeping and trying to walk again, no longer comatose on his side... I am hoping after a break from being held he will be OK. Raising chicks is more nerve wracking than having a new baby around the house....

    They are only 2 days old, too much of a squeeze is my guess, or possibly a drop. :( Hopefully he will pull out of it, but if not I've certainly learned my lesson on this one. Our "brooder" is an old bird cage with cardboard on the bottom and partway up around the sides, and a baby gate...

    I think my toddler just injured one of our chicks, he just loves them and keeps getting them in and out of the brooder,even though I keep warning him to be soft and careful. I went to check on them and one was laying in the brooder, picked him up and he opened his eyes but still won't get up...
