I am sure I will be overwhelmed with so many. I know that 3 Turkens are going to 1 lady, however Brenda better be bringing a bigger clothes basket this year. I am going to fill it full.
As much as I would love to say yes. Brenda is bringing me either eggs or babies that are buff next week. I also have a few mixed in with what I bought on e-bay, and she is getting 5 pullets and 1 cockerel in may from Cackle hatchery. So My new coops will be filled to the Brim this year. Next...
My girls would so be wanting that to be their man, they love the long pretty tails. My Delawares got moved in with the Delaware rooster the other day and they want out, his tail isn't long enough for them. They want Stormy or Bad boy because they have the long pretty tails. They are almost...
A lot of folks are starting to want them now. I hope to see more and more folks over the next few years start raising them so they can become a well known breed. They are like big puppy dogs. lovable as can be just covered with feathers instead of fur.
You think that is big, here are the Legacy eggs compared to an extra large egg. What a handful. That was just before Christmas, and was a single yolk. I was expecting a double but it wasn't. It was all I could do not to drop one or both eggs. I even had a pillow under where I was holding it so I...
My Delaware rooster. A much shorter tail. This is the one that will be culled tomorrow. He almost killed our little man through the pen fence. And has even been trying to take on our big boy Stormy. Stormy is tolerating it, and trying to ignore it. However I know what will happen if I keep this one.
A few better photos of little man and he is back with his little GLW female
I have a Delaware female that is in love with this little guy, she makes about 4 of him.
He is huge. I also have his 2 daughters. He is an older boy and the ladies love him. If they don't want him to breed he walks off and leaves them alone for the day. Where the younger ones will breed even if the ladies don't want to breed. If I had to say that any of my roosters were gentlemen it...
And here is little man with my sister. He is still having a hard time of it, but he is still going sore leg and all.
I told my daughter none of the photos came out to well of him because it didn't show his pretty silver grey wings, and the burgundy on his wings
Ok here is my Big guy 100% Legacy.
A bit to close I think. However he is big.
Him with his Legacy daughter.
Stormy next to our Rhode Island red (Not) hen. little man is in the far corner of the pen sleeping you can just see his black tail.
When I choose a full grown rooster to add to my flock. I always look at the tails. The bigger the better. I also have noticed that the hens prefer the longer prettier tails. I had 26 GLW hens a few years ago and 3 males, The hens all went for the one with the longest tail. They would ignore the...
You know what is funny??? I was just remembering back when I was a kid about 30+ years ago and my dad betting on the chicks and which rooster would have the longest tail. For some reason my uncle always told my dad that he would cheat because my dads always had the longer tails.
Why is it that most roosters now have short tails. My legacy we did a quick measurement today and his tail is almost 3 feet long. He has no game bird in him, and no long tail breeds in him he is just an old fashioned breed from way back in the 1920's that originated from Maine. I can't believe...
