thats what I thought. When ever I had received eggs in the past in cartons they always had padding betwwen carton and eggs.
Thanks all for your opinions. I guess ive been spoiled by all you great swappers and lucky in the past with ebay.
here are some pictures of the packing material. The box has damage however hard to tell when it occurred as they reused an old box. Essentially the eggs were placed on quail egg flats, a piece of "fiber fill" (I think that's what mom calls it lol) on top of eggs, and then the top wrapped in...
Is there an "industry standard" or acceptable percentage of broken eggs received from shipping? I understand 50% hatch rate with shipped eggs are good, but what's the cut off for broken eggs? BTW, this has nothing to do with eggs purchased/swapped off this thread and BYC in general. I...
100% hatch rate on kitchenchick's birchen marans! Ordered 8+, received 11. All 11 were fertile and made it to lockdown. ALL hatched! 10 blacks and a single blue! Couldn't get any better than that!
I must mention that I bought birchen Marans eggs from kitchenchick. Purchased 8, received 11. None broken, air cells were great and ALL 11 have developed and going into lockdown on Monday. I'm very impressed and will be buying from her again when I need more eggs!
For all you orpington people, I have a question. I picked up 2 dozen orpington eggs locally. They were mainly lavenders with a roo or two of lemon cuckoo and a lemon cuckoo hen. Out of 24 eggs, 21 made it to lockdown and so far 16 hatched. 11 hatched out a buff color, 3 lavenders, and 2 dark...
Went and met CrazyPetLady today to pick up some swaps! It was a pleasure meeting her and looking forward to seeing the eggs hatch. I also picked up the mystery chicks I claimed! Here are some pics. If I remember correctly trio of rhodebars, pair of CCL, pair of tolbunts, a russian orloff...
Beautiful tarantula. I've had a few in the past. A couple Antilles pink toes, curly hair, usambara orange baboon to name a few. My favorite was the curly hair, so fluffy!
Do you keep any others besides tarantulas? I also have a few (20) blue tongue skinks.
Received eggs from BlackBrookPoultry post# 5152 for 6 blue lemon Cochin and
Eggs from Madamwlf post #4663 for 6+ CCL
Both shipments were well packed and all eggs arrived in great shape
Thank you both!
I bought some Marans eggs locally, and the lady kept telling me that they are the most rare breed of chickens in the US. Went on explaining that the black copper were the most rare followed by blue, splash, and golden cuckoo. I just said ok and went on. I wish I would have saw the red flags...
