Hey all - long time since I last posted. Enjoyed the show at Monroe last week. So my niece asked me to get to and hatch some eggs for her. We choose olive egger project eggs. 4 of which hatched as naked necks. Two from really dark splash maran eggs and are white/splash looking and the other two...
That Barnevelder was gorgeous! She stopped me in my tracks I even made my DH ( totally not a chicken guy at all) come back and look at her (he was already in the next row thinking we we almost done )
Also - I have a stubbornly broody silkie - anyone bringing a few eggs to sell? Any type (chicken, duck, guinea, ( can a silkie hatch turkey or goose??) is okay with me since I will most likely sell/trade whatever she hatches after they are few weeks old.
Edit to add: I found eggs:)

I believe you have to a member to sell them in the sale area but a lot of people arrange to meet and sell/trade since people come from all over. It is a convenient event for those of us who do not have any local auctions or swap meets. I will only bring my cockerel if someone wants him...
Hey everyone Is anyone bringing pullets or hens to sell at the show at this weekend? I am looking the help out a friend so breed really isn't important but I know they want LF or at least larger bantams. I also have a 6 week old LF Cochin cockerel I can bring if anyone is interested in him...
*sigh* Glad my chicks are 5 weeks old and not dependent on heat anymore. Still working on repairing the fencing around the grow-out coop so I suppose they will spend another few shelter days in the garage brooder.
This is the very reason I no longer have EEs or Ameracauna's I liked both, and my EE was an excellent layer but they fly well and even with clipped wings she could easily "hop" to the top of the 6 ft fence. I like my Favs and silkies and I am also growing out some LF cochins in the hope that...
Congratulations - they are so cute ! I put mine out at 6-8 weeks. When I notice they are not using the ecoglow anymore.. which is usually about that age if they are feathered in. The cooler the environment you are brooding them in (not counting under the heater) the faster they feather. So if...
Just to update - my 4 little Faverolle cockerels are sold. That leaves me 5 potential pullets and 4 LF cochin - currently gender neutral - to grow and decide who gets to stay.
One another note - just added a covered area (think miniature carport) to my main coop and added a pvc feeder under...
Anyone need/want male faverolle chicks? I have 4 male 2.5 week olds available. I cannot have roosters so there is no point in growing them out for me. They have decent feet (an important trait in 5 toed breeds) and are very active. They are from breeder eggs that I hatched - not hatchery birds...
I'm on Whidbey and my silkies do fine here. I have two hens -black bearded and blue non-bearded. If you want adults - you could have one or both of mine in March. The blue ( Charlotte) gives us about 3-4 eggs a week and the black (Berry - get it?? ) lays well when she's not broody . We got them...

I plan on going and can transport to/from the Whidbey Island/Mt.Vernon/Anacortes area. Probably won't be showing anything but I may have LF Cochin or Sal Fav juveniles and/or silkie hens available to sell/trade/gift.
