That's about the age of our barred rock! We also have a black sex link that should be the same age but from what I read is they start laying sooner then barred rocks... so what gives lol? I never knew about "the egg song" till I came on BYC... Then I youtubed it and found a barred rock singing...

She laid another one today!!! It was a little bigger! We're so excited!!!

Here's her first egg! Tiny but it looks great! She didn't lay one yesterday, but this morning she keeps going in and out of the coop. It's like she wants to lay an egg but maybe isn't ready for it yet! Hopefully when I get home from school she'll have one for me!

lol she kept doing it! At least 6 times with the hour I was out cleaning the coop! She just kept coming up to me it was fun to mess with her hahaha

Hey it is what it is! Putting you fingers there is like a sonogram... Your checking to see how "far" along she is lol! Plus we dont just check that its more of an all around weekly health check!

Haha we don't put our fingers up their vent... We put them up against the butt where the two bones come together.

Okay I think shes really really close I can almost fit three of my fingers between her pubis bones!!!! She keeps clucking at us saying "dont't you touch me" hahaha seems like it!

She hasn't squatted for us, but we felt her bottom and her gap between pubis bones is the width of two of my fingers. When I checked her 4 days ago the width was maybe 1.5 fingers!!!

Well we bought her from a chicken breeder on August 26th... This lady said she was born in May so that would make her 24 weeks today... However when I posted a few weeks ago a few members said she was younger then what I thought... The first picture was taken in late September early October.
