They are in the house for me too, But I got a large 5 by 5 foot brooder a couple of weeks ago with a thermostat in it and heat lamp sockets. I am planning on moving chicks to there at about 5 or 6 weeks. It will be in our outbuilding, which isn't heated, but with the lamps, i think they'll be...
Thanks Karanleaf! With another 82 eggs in my incubators, I'm expecting a lot more cute fuzzies in the next few weeks. These ones were my first hatches from mailed eggs. Then I got this addiction problem...
My name is Claire and I'm addicted to hatching eggs...
Hi Leah,
Here are some updated photos of some of the chicks I hatched from your eggs!
This is Nilla - the millie - check out her feet!!!
This is the silkie and one of the EE chicks. Names are Wafer and Praline.
Are some of your EE hens all white? This one looks like she might be all...
Here it is a bit drier. The flash makes it look paler than it is. I guess it must be white, but it certainly has some buff look about it to me. It's sort of creamy color. But I guess white chickens start out as yellow chicks, so maybe it will be white.
Whatever the case, I love it!
One of the EE's just hatched out! Yay! Looks pretty much white at the moment. Probably easier to tell when it's dry.
The silkie is starting to look buff as it dries. Weird since you don't have any buff!!
Hi again! I know - time really does fly! I am amazed they are already out. I have a Brinsea R-Com 20 and all I have to do is fill the water tank. Well, I didn't realize initially how much water it was going through. I think it might have been 1 or 2 days on about 10% humidity because I...
Hi Leah!
Hope you and the baby are doing well.
Here is a picture of "Nilla" - she is the Millie egg that you sent me. What a little bundle of cuteness. I also have a silkie hatched and 4 EEs that are pipped. Some of the eggs didn't make it - I had a humidity incident. I am still a newbie...
Leah's eggs are lovely nhnanna, and they are developing really well in my bator. They all arrived in perfect condition - extremely well packaged. It's a great deal!
Thanks Leah! That's perfect!
I can see some very good development in quite a lot of the eggs that you sent. A few are clear so maybe never fertilized but I'm not at all worried about that. I'm excited to see what will hatch first. It is my first experience with buying hatching eggs so I...
Hi Leah,
Can you help me out with your pencil marks on the eggs I got from you.
My assumptions are:
S = silkie
M = millie
and the larger eggs are easter eggers, right?
But there are some marked C and some marked BC. Are those cochin and bantam cochin?
Thanks,
Claire
I love my R-Com 20 bator. It was more $$ but definitely worth it to me. No fiddling with thermometer and hygrometer. Plus, if I take the lid off to candle, it only takes about 5 to 7 minutes to get back to temp and humidity, which is fabulous. Hatches in it have proceeded flawlessly. Highly...
Sigh...I was hoping they'd arrive today but they didn't. Surely they'll be here tomorrow. I am so excited. Can anybody tell me, what do I do with them when they arrive? Put them in the incubator immediately when I get home (by which time they will have sat on the doorstep for some time...)...
Hi Leah,
I'm so excited about my eggs. I see you are not in hospital yet so I am presuming you are able to send them? Any ideas on what's in the box? I am doing the happy chicken dance! The incubator comes today! Woo hoo!
Claire
Hi,
My incubator (R-Com 20) is arriving on Monday by UPS, so I would love to have these as a first batch. But, my incubator only has space for 20. I could certainly take less than that though! I can Paypal if you have any still...
