I've heard people say that their glass containers cracked, but they had good luck with ceramic. Maybe you can find a small shallow crock pot.

It is lactic. I'll give it stir and try letting in a bit more air. BTW, when do I know it's done?

My first attempt of FF smells like baby poop (it's on day two). Did I do something wrong? It's bubbling like crazy.

it was a horse facility where breeders send their pregnant mares to be monitored 24/7 and were we assist foals that are having difficulties. Many of the foals we cared for would never become racers, but they carry on amazing bloodlines, so they'll be used for breeding. We had a full physical...

I miss the horses in central Florida. I worked at the neonatal care facility in Gainesville for four years while I was in college.

Sounds like possibly a stroke. That's how two out of three of my coons passed. I am so sorry for your loss. Coon cats have a personality like no other feline.

Is it just me or does something seem wrong with an "Amish" website that has contact numbers???? Doesn't that go against the grain? I figured that the Amish coops were built and sold online by people who build with the standards, but weren't actually Amish.

I didn't think of the Mennonite store nearby. I love their quality, prices and amazing fresh bakery items. I'll have to check out their supply. They just enough out their fresh honey, so I was headed that way today.

That's about what a spend for the lower quality ones. The higher quality ones run a bit more. I use coconut from everything for dog ear mites, baby wipes solution and rash cream, General first aid and more. I get the higher end virgin oil for about $13 and with all the previously listed stuff...

My eight girls free range for most of the day on most days, but I still offer pellets free choice in the run. 10lbs last them about two weeks.

I get what both of you are saying. On one hand you want to keep good relations with your neighbors and on the other hand you want your flock to be safe. I have one neighbor who I'd talk to about keeping their dog in control if it were to come here. I have another neighbor whose dog I would shoot...

Aged poop tea: http://homeguides.sfgate.com/make-chicken-manure-tea-fertilizer-40853.html BTW I can totally see one of my boys doing that and sadly, it wouldn't be the grossest thing they would have done. Ah, boys.

Do any of you make compost tea? I've read a lot regarding how long to let it "steep", but how soon after making the tea can you use it? How long will it stay good? Do you think it will aid in growing grass where I recently seeded. Sorry to bombard with questions, but I have a bucket of poop...

I've done an oat mat. It only grows enough over the mesh for the little veloseraptors (sp?) To get a small morning snack. I might do as you said and try another grain soon.

I came up with a cool idea. My run is a lattice hoop. I used solar lights (the stake ones with the stakes removed) along the top. I just stuck them in the lattice spaces. I'm not sure if it will deter predators, but it makes me feel better.
