    As seeds get older, I use more seeds per grow cube. With fresh seeds, generally 1 per cube, 2 seeds the second year, 3 the third year. If multiple come up, I'll let them grow a little and yank the weaker ones. Seems to work well.

    Rural King, Tractor Supply and local feed stores are generally good places to find chicks, particularly in the spring. Just make sure you buy females/pullets instead of "straight run".

    That's why you use it as a treat, not a staple food. Just feed about what you think they will eat quickly. I think of it as hot cocoa for chickens. Partly. Isa Browns are a hybrid of multiple breeds including RIRs.

    Heating them up (not too hot) is a good idea. I rotate their treats, but one new one I've added to the mix is cooked instant oatmeal + meal worms.
