    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm ordering some penciled runner ducklings from a lady in Ohio. She's going to ship them once hatched. 😊

Like you said, things can be misconstrued when we can't hear tone and don't know the person's intentions. I've seen a lot of your posts so I didn't think you were being mean or anything but I could see how it could be taken the wrong way. ☺️

That all sounds good to me, I'm only saying I just understand why she reacted to you that way from your intial post. It looked unnecessary, like you were picking her apart, when I think pretty much everyone understands what someone means when they say pet farm animal: An animal that is normally...

My money is on an egg problem... seeing that she's a hybrid egglayer and at the 2 to 3 years old mark. Have you made a thread in the sickness/emergency section? I'm not super knowledgeable on these kinds of topics. Sorry about your girl ☹️

My ducks have. Most of my hens have, but I hatched a few pullets this year who are just starting to lay. I expect they'll probably lay most of the Winter.

Hi there! Is Bloomington area doable? I got my adult geese from here and they sometimes have goslings available. It may be worth a call http://www.snoozingooseranch.com/

No extra precautions here. My birds are completely free-ranged, except for the ducks and geese, so I'm just hoping for the best.

Personally I like using metal. My duck shed has metal sides and a metal roof, but the front and back are only hardware cloth so it never heats up in their like a fully enclosed shed would. Is the area shaded where you're going to have the coop? That would make a big difference in how hot it gets.

If you do go the processing route, is it the actual killing part you would struggle with, or the whole deal? I personally struggle with doing the act of killing them myself, but I have no problem plucking, eviscerating, etc. Perhaps your husband would be willing to help you with the dispatching...

You mean have them in general or have them to sell? 🙂 I have 5 poults right now. 2 are older and I have them in a tractor that we move daily. Other three are still in the brooder but they will go outside pretty soon.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time! That really stinks. I just sold all my ducks to the same lady today after having a lot of buyers either back out or ask questions and never show up.

WOW WOW WOW. I too have been surprised at the lack of communication skills when I use craigslist. I have told people forget it before because they take too long to get back to me. One time I was supposed to meet a guy but he never gave me the address. 20 minutes after we were supposed to meet...
