I have one faverolle and she is one of my most favorite chickens. She is also nowhere close to bottom of the pecking order, like I feared she might be. She doesn't even seem to care much about the pecking order with the other hens. She comes and goes as she pleases, but never bullies other hens...
Eh, people always say that. I worked as a generalist for a whopping 7 months before a heme specialist position opened up at DHMC. I jumped on it, never looked back. I love my department, and 7 months as a generalist DID teach me heaps. But 5 years? If you know what you love, just go for it. :)
I wound up having eggs from different hens lose weight at quite different rates, so I set up the other incubator as a hatcher and just moved eggs over from the main incubator as they approached target weight. Some of them were ready for lockdown on day 18, but I had two eggs that didn't go into...
I was, but they're out now! I had three more eggs that pipped, and they all have hatched now. Two more eggs are still in the incubator, but I think they are late quitters. Neither of them has pipped, and they are not peeping. They look slouched when I candle them. So, out of 16 eggs originally...
