I had my tomato starts outside and lost about 1/2 of them even covered *sigh* I really knew better. We always seem to get a late frost in April when I try to garden.
I've decided to take off a day at work and get my garden set up. I have some peppers and tomatoes that want to be outside very badly. And I would love to get my beans and vine plants planted.
Chick fever hit me hard. I have an almost overwhelming amount of chicks. Now I'm going to have to rush and make some chicken tractors to move my adult birds around in and keep my breeding groups so that my new babies can have the coops.
I got my F1xF1 Freedom Rangers in the incubator. I'm...
I got 2 incubators full of eggs and I keep slipping in silkie eggs lol…it’s been a week and I have candled them. There are 3 possible non developing eggs out of 34.
I managed to move 1 inside the coop, hopefully it starts to thaw and the other I moved towards the coop, but I couldn’t get it inside cuz the cord was covered in a sheet of ice. I’ll try to mess with it more tomorrow since I have the day off and daycare is opened.
-8 here, feels like -27 with the wind. Waiting for my mom to come visit so I can take water out to the chickens since it’s gotten so cold, the warmer pads I have for the water tanks can’t keep the water from freezing. It’s a good thing I have Monday off. I think I’ll move the water into the...
I got to see a few last night when putting the chickens up after I put the baby down for the night. Took me a minute to figure out what they were cuz I wasn't really paying attention. lol
Has anyone had eggs shipped to them recently? I'm interested in buying some but I am worried about them being damaged in the post. If you have, what side of the state are you on and what was your experience?
All straight run except the Whiting True Blues, there are suppose to be 7 pullets and 3 cockerels. I am a bit worried that I have more than 3 cockerels though, time will tell.
All the chicks have been doing great since being put out in the coop. They are actually happy to see me. I like to bring occasional treats like freshly pulled weeds. Some(all the chicks included here) will let me pet them, and others try to jump up on my shoulders.
I'll get a picture of the...
Oh man, I love the variety that Iris' have! I bought a bunch of them tulips, daffodils and lilies since they are all low maintenance and grow back. I get spring fever pretty bad every year.
They look so tiny in the photos, but most of them I can’t pickup in one hand anymore.
I got a few more weeks to get the other side of the coop done so I can split them up again when it starts to get crowded. They are growing so much faster than I thought they would.
