Well, fudge! Anyways, when I buy the seed they will love it. LOL Like I said, I expect to be putting down seed all summer long.

I would really appreciate it if you would/could do that for me.

I have posts on facebook but I want to ask here too, incase there are people here who don't do facebook. I am south of Springfield, just south of Ozark and I am looking for 2 or 3 large fowl/standard or even giant Cochin hens. I would like them already laying but if you have some pullets that...

LOL That does sound funny but I wasn't wanting it for it's looks, I was wanting it to look nice while they eat it. I also have some Sebastopol geese and they would look splendid on a nicely manicured lawn but I wasn't planning on that either. LOL

How do I inoculate the seeds? And will it be alright for the birds to eat them? I totally expect them to eat all the seeds they can find and that I will be putting seeds down all summer.

Sorry for your loss, potagergirl. Hope another one sweeps you off your feet soon. I don't mean that to sound callous but just want the hole in your heart to be filled. I am just a little south of the town of Ozark and my birds have pooped all over my front yard. Unfortunately, that is...

Alan is still there and plans on taking some chicks to Nixa on Feb. 14. I don't know if he will be at other places before then but you can look up Heartland Hatchery and see if you can find his phone number on it. He doesn't answer emails and sometimes takes a long time to get back to you by...

Hmmm, looks just like my roosters: This is their dad, I was told he is a Welsummer.

In-state sales on eggs - does distance matter? I bought silkie eggs from someone only about 30 miles from us.

Will you do it again next year?

Either one I haven't heard of but what I was afraid of looking like a dummy for was, "Standard Operating Procedures." LOL

I'm going to sound like a dummy again but what is SOP, I hope it doesn't mean what it usually means. If it does, where do I find it? I am looking at the link concurrently. Thanks.

It just occurred to me to ask if anyone around the Springfield/Branson/Forsyth/Branson West/Ozark/Sparta/Clever/Galena areas have cheap Cochin eggs for sale for incubation? Also, does anyone know how tall a LF Silkie is suppose to be?

Don't know how you feel about traveling but they are having a chicken swap or some such thing in Rockaway Beach this weekend. I plan on going but just found out about it a couple of hours ago. I am up late using free minutes on our internet. LOL

    calling any one from missouri

Oh, no, I didn't mean that I felt you had suggested that. It's just we were letting them sleep in the run if they wanted to and when that raccoon started making nightly visits, we had to lock them up and they don't care for it. Of course they don't understand that if a predator gets in the run...

    calling any one from missouri

Yeah, but you know what? If I let them sleep with the door open, it would be just my luck that the coon would have a mate and that they were taking nightly turns at killing my chickens and whoever is left would slip into my coop and have a heyday killing every one they could get their claws...

When we bought the trap, the feed store had some bead like stuff that you are supposed to sprinkle on the ground to ward the ground predators off. He asked if my chickens ate it would it hurt them and they said no but I still didn't buy it, I don't want to just take their word for it.

    calling any one from missouri

Wouldn't that be nice? LOL Problem is, we only had one disappearing now and then, maybe one every 3 to 6 months and then this coon comes along and it is every night or every other night. I can't afford to share that much. So, I'm thinking whatever used to get one periodically is still out there...

Caught a coon last night and my husband went all goo-goo over it. I told him to load the pistol and I'd take care of it but he wouldn't and I don't know how to load it. Anyways, I told him that if he's not going to kill it and won't let me kill it then he needed to call the Conservation people...

Trap works but all we got last night was Mama cat. My 18 year old daughter throws a temper tantrum over us trying to lock the cats up but she didn't seem worried that the coon could go after the cats. My daughter is as much a pita as the raccoon, maybe more.
