calling any one from missouri

Hi Everyone. I live in Kansas City, Mo.

Speaking of the Right to Farm amendment, I recently posted this thread in another part of the forums:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/916778/missouri-right-to-farm-amendment-and-chicken-ordinances

Please check it out and give me your thoughts. At the very least, check out the legal analysis linked in the other thread - very interesting information. I think there are a lot of unknowns regarding this amendment and only time will tell what it truly means for Missourians. However, it does appear possible that the amendment could protect those of us who live in the city and wish to keep "livestock" animals or grow food all over our yards.

Help! All out door green forest harvesters. I have scored milkweed. Problem, I'm late the pods are all over 1 1/2" long, but they haven't opened yet.

Can you still eat the larger pods? How do you fix them? Am I just out of luck? I have the smallest ones boiling. I assume you fist still need to boil them twice.

All the recipes refer to 1 1/2" pods or smaller, after reading description, history and all kinds of good info ... But not how to cook until last. Then it is vague.

Welcome to the Missouri thread. We used to have a farm near Fredericktown. I loved it there.
It has been very quiet here lately. I thought maybe everyone was laying low, dodging bullets from Ferguson.
I had lunch there a couple times in the last couple weeks. I have several friends that live there and ground zero is only about 3 miles from here.

Yes will live about a hour away from fredricktown....we go there because the feed is so much cheaper than elsewhere.
yeah we heard about ferguson....I think they are making it too complicated and racial.
I look at it how I think it was.....gangster robbing someplace..cop doing his job. Idk but what's going on after the looting and all is uncalled for. In my personal opinion the store owners should be packin a piece;) its their right.
Enough of that this is a chicken board:)
But yes I love it here too and was born and raised here.
Keep safe if you go around there again!!!
Might want to take a body guard;)

Welcome! We recently moved to the Houston area from TN, actually, we lived here previously 10 years ago, so we are back! We love it here in the Ozarks. I raise BBS Am's, BBS Marans, and have some olive eggers and SBEL's, plus some lavendar guineas. We plan eventually to get goats, a cow, pigs and turkeys, possibly muscovy ducks too. We have 11 horses and plan on doing some trail riding when we get more settled in. Our next big project is getting a barn built. Whew! It's hard starting from scratch, all that was here when we moved was a well and a shed, with electric hookup and a lagoon. Here is a pic of the chicken coop we built...

Very nice. It looks great. Starting from scratch is hard but you get to do it the way you want rather than retrofit what someone else did. There's an expression in old cars. DPO - dreaded previous owner.
Actually starting with a well, electric and a shed is a perfect clean slate. Running electric to a distant property and digging a well are pricey endeavors.

I love the Ozarks. Mostly all the beautiful float streams. I've been on more than half of them many times. I could spend the rest of my life floating Ozark streams.

I just noticed the space at the bottom. Is that a gap under the floor or into the run?
I just lost $4,000 of chickens to mink that squeezed into a 1" gap.

It just occurred to me to ask if anyone around the Springfield/Branson/Forsyth/Branson West/Ozark/Sparta/Clever/Galena areas have cheap Cochin eggs for sale for incubation?

Also, does anyone know how tall a LF Silkie is suppose to be?
