We never feed our sheep grain, only grass, alfalfa, and grass hay. They only get diarrhea when they have rich grasses and weeds. Personally, I would take him off the feed. Sheep don't need grain since they are ruminants.
Just went out to find a new baby ram lamb!! Didn't have my camera, so I'll get pics later.
Also, we found an unexpected......... baby goat!!!!! I never ever thought my doe was pregnant!! But we have a lovely little gray/white/black doeling!
I like it better when they have tails too. I think they look more natural. It's quite interesting, we have had two lambs born all black! With only just a teeny bit of white.
They are pure Dorpers. We don't dock tails, because we don't show, and with hair sheep, there really isn't a need to dock tails. Wool sheep breeders dock their lambs tails because with all that wool, they can't defecate properly.
Our sheep do have more black, but I don't know where they got...
Yes, I'm in California. We have so many rams, I wish you were closer! Do you milk your ewes on a stanchion? We've tried to put our ewes on the stanchion to milk, but one of our ewes broke it!
Thank you!
Just wanted to share that another of my ewes just lambed 20 minutes ago. She's 7 years old, so we were really worried about her delivery. But, everything went great, and we ended up with two gorgeous baby girls!!
Here are some pics of the three and two day...
We breed Dorpers! They are hair sheep, and we love them!
Also, my 5 year old ewe just lambed last night! She has a beautiful ram. And my yearling is due either tonight or tomorrow!
