Update; bought the vetericyn and have been applying regularly for the last few days. Little one can now blink both eyes though they still look squinty and a bit goopy. But much improved.

Thanks! I don't know why this one is having such severe issues when al the rest are healthy as horses... I will pick some ointment in the morning.

I tried to clean it. I used some warm water on a Q-tip and tried to gently rub the crust away. The goo seems to have given way to the crustiness you see in the picture. Nothing came away and I wasn't comfortable applying more pressure.
