Hi all.
I have a 1 week old salmon Favorolles chick that is having issues. He came out of the box seeming a little weaker than the others but overall ok. He developed pasty butt really bad (only one in the shipment to get it at all) and is mostly recovered from that but now has developed an eye issue and is noticeably less energetic. He is flat out lethargic as a matter of fact. One eye is squinty but opens and has no discharge. The other has a coating of a clear gel looking crud. I tried to wipe it off gently but it is far more solid than appearances suggest. There is no swelling in either eye.
Any suggestions how to treat this? I don't know if his eye was pecked by another chick or if he maybe got chilled? In the coarse of treating his pasty butt I gave him two baths in three days, pat dried him and put him directly under the light in the brooder to keep him warm. I used very warm water; he actually liked it so much he was falling asleep leaning into my hand in the 'tub'.
Any advise is welcome. Thank you in advance.
