She is! I love her, I wouldn't care if she didn't lay any eggs
I keep thanking her everyday for the scrumtious egg. The yolk is so good, I was licking the plate Very ladylike huh? I had never tasted a fresh egg before that!
I really can't be sure now, sorry. I think I was remember my buckeyes legs. But when I go out there, I will know by the color of her legs which is good It really doesn't matter, but I was expecting darker eggs. Hcammack has hatchery Marans and they are pretty dark. I couldn't believe how light...
Yellow, I am pretty sure. Now I have to look. I know the other day I was noticing my Buckeye has very bright yellow legs. Let me get back to you on that one.
Hey guys, I have a Marans that I bought from a woman that ordered a variety of breeds from a hatchery. She laid her first egg on Tuesday, second on Thursday, and one a day since. The eggs are tan not chocolate, though I was expecting that. They are DELICIOUS though! My question is, is this...
OOOuuu, we had a Maran/Amer cross but we gave her to a friend along with our rooster so he would not be lonely. She will let me know when she starts laying. Do you have pictures?
Aww definetly post some pictures When they start laying, let us know and post some pictures of their eggs!
I guess us chickenpeople are pretty crazy, I never thought I would be so excited to see pictures of eggs!
Let me know what color they turn out to be. I am assuming they would be a lighter blue or green. I really want to see what a EE/maran, penedesenca, or any type or med or dark brown layer would lay.
Those are beautiful! Are BO eggs pinker than most brown eggs? Every time I see a photo of them, they look much more pink. If so, I am definetely going to get one

I like the colors on your little one, but Im more inclined to think she is a mix or an EE, I have a couple very similar...I guess you wont know til an egg comes out of her?? Where did she come from??
Marans usually happen on purpose, with known moms and dads, so you can keep track...

It hasn't happened yet, but the way I am with animals, never say never!
I kiss my chickens all the time! I love the way they smell, like pine dust They dont mind it at all
One more question, I don't know what breed this little one is. Looking at the pictures of your babies, it looks like she might be a Maran. What do you think?
Hey, Here are some pictures of my marans
This is Millie
Maran/? cross (if anyone has any idea what it is, let me know! )
