How do you know when apple or pear butter is thick enough? Will it thicken as it sets in the jars? I've been cookin this stuff all day... its gettin thicker

math ace: this was my 1st time with pears too, lol I've been makin lots of pearsauce (ya know like applesauce) in my crockpot. I did some pear jam... but I wanna make it alittle better, I chunked the pears I think I want the pieces smaller. Think I might do pear jelly tomorrow.

Canned 4 pints of pearsauce, 4 pints of cherry jam & 2 pints of nectarine jam... I really need some 1/2 pints for my jams. Got the 12 cups of blueberries frozen. Done for the day... startin all over again tomorrow.

I've got a question for yall... I'm canning pearsauce still. I cook it for hours in my crockpot, them mash it up with a potato masher (I like it chunky) but instead of mashing the cooked slices can I can it as a pie/cobbler filling? Have any of you ever done this?
