I was not referring to ignorance of the law. Most people have a rudimentary grip on that one. The reasons behind the laws, however, is something most people fail to grasp. Why are most top-level predators protected? Particularly why are migratory predators protected? The law isn't there...
Ignorance is simply lack of knowledge, so no, stating that someone is ignorant is not insulting or rude. Everyone is ignorant about something. I did make the assumption that a discussion could be had, which is why I pointed out that it's my job...in this case, yes, I am Big Brother. But...
No need to be rude at all. Someone pointing out that it's foolish to not only attempt to break federal and international law but then brag about it on a public forum is just showing what is wrong with that picture. Responding with ridicule is simply showing more of the same. It's silly.
Obviously, I find the topic of killing birds of prey...or any top-level predator objectionable. I'm a biologist. Plus, we're supposed to be the smarter ones. Our job is to protect our livestock. We do that by providing cover, not eliminating animals that take far more rodents than they do...
True. You can deter them short of harrassing their nesting or killing them. But your statement was that you tried to kill them. Just because you failed doesn't mean you didn't mKe the attempt.
Sorry it took so long to get pics of the raised bed. And even so, I only took pics of one end. I had forgotten that hubby had ended up topping it with brick to make a better seating area. (It's hard for me to get in the garden). Anyway....
Pulled these out of it while I was out there.
He took a continuing ed class, but that was his first attempt at applying it. It looks just as good now as when he finished it. I'll try to remember to get pics tomorrow, weather permitting.
They are mortared together. No bracing. It's been up....hmmmmm......eight years? Nine? We bought this place ten years ago, and I think it went in the following summer. We had a load of soil delivered, and there were no fences up yet so they could dump right in it. Then we added manure and...
Hubby built my raised bed of concrete block. The planting area is four feet across, and it's twenty feet long. The best part is that it is high enough that I can sit on it. Or I can plant things in the holes of the blocks, like herbs, and still leave seating spaces. I love that bed. Even...
After my own experience with MG, I think you should get retested, too! Mine were in horrible condition and dying miserable deaths. But I've not had coccidia problems, and I usually brood on the ground.
Been doing the same thing, and I don't have near the breeds you do. We've narrowed it down to assorted colors of Orps, BBS Ameraucanas, Rose comb Brown Leghorns, Welsummers, Cuckoo Marans, plus EE and OE. Probably would have retained the lovely Barnevelders if most of them weren't roos. just...
