I had this happen with ducks this week. I went to go do lockdown and had a duckling already hatched! All 5 hatched within two days after, go figure. Today should have been hatch day and they're all done!
Ohhhhhh! I'm in love with them too!
That would be the hard part, having to rehome or...
Well. I thought I was coming down this weekend but the kiddo is sick and so an 8 hour drive with an upset tummy seemed like a bad idea. Groan. No show for momma.
If you haven't sold them by this weekend, i'd like to get a couple while I'm down in Idaho Falls. I'll PM you. Even have a clean box for the ride home :)
Hehe, I've been doing this one a bit lately. I'm doing these staggered hatches for the first time and whoa! It's a bit confusing. And the worst prob is I counted the incubator/hatcher space fine but I kinda forgot about BROODER space. Whoops!!!! This week has been a game of chick shuffle!
Great idea!!
My girl layed well all winter, although I do supplement the light in the coop. My roo has a HUGE comb and did have some frostbite this winter, but nothing serious. I don't have the coop insulated and there's not supplemental heat.
Snicker snort, too funny! I think a truckload of rocks on the way back might not be so good for my fuel mileage! Chickens and eggs however weigh nothing.
Congrats on the baby! I hope Porter is feeling well soon, poor pup... They get so sad and depressed when they are sick. My younger Shepard mix was hit by a car a few months back, and he was so no himself while he was healing.
Nice! You need more, though....
Ha! I saw your craigslist ad last night, are you in Sandpoint? You might try contacting pips&peeps, she's in Newman Lake and breeds Ameraucanas, I just don't remember if she has Lavenders. Some on on craigslist sold a flock of lavander orps a few months ago, wish I had grabbed them!
Welcome! I'm so glad to see so many more people on here! Now if some of y'all were here up north, that'd be even better!
Idaho Falls folks, I'll be down the weekend of May 18th and 19th for the Snake River Fiber Festival and I'll be stalking your eggs.
These are the moments I'm glad I'm on county land, I haven't been able to find a single livestock rule, just how I like it.... Although I do have an acre and 3/4, and my neighbor is letting us use his pasture for more goat/llama space. Wheeeee! I try not to get ridiculous with the critters...
Sigh. I'll be enjoying Chickenstock vicariously through all of you. Post lots of pictures. At least I can meet up with you Idaho Falls folks a bit after! I'll even pack the chicken crate, just in case.... :)
WARNING: Cuteness Overload!! Cross posted :)
I woke up to baby Angora goats!! Meet Martha and George! We're using famous leaders in history as names, our does are Marie and Antoinette and the buck is Napoleon. Holy hell, they're adorable!
