My second pullet started laying two days after the other one. Her very first egg was a double yolker I believe (haven't cracked it open). They are the green eggs in the carton - the darker green is from the black/red hen.
This is an old thread I know but I wanted to update - My chicks hatched on november 18th are now laying eggs! Well one of two are anyhow. When I get home i will post pictures of them.
I didn't see movement in it, and she is still sitting on it trying to hatch it. I don't think the chick/embryo inside is alive anymore but i don't see the harm in letting her sit on it another day.
My 7 month old Australorp/Ameraucana/White Leghorn mix breed hen that went broody is now a first time mom! I gave her 6 eggs, 2 of them turned out infertile(clear) and I had 2 quitters at different stages but two of them hatched very happy and healthy. I added a heat lamp to the coop just in...

Anyhow, I am happy to report that out of 13 eggs every single one of them went into lockdown though I didn't candle on lockdown, I candled the...
Yesterday I checked my eggs and went to sleep around 9:30 AM. It was VERY windy and the power was out when I woke up around 4pm. The incubator temp was down to 62 degrees, not sure how long the power was out for but I imagine a while, I got the incubator plugged back in and warming up around 5...
Soooo I set eggs last Monday then this Thursday my little Ameraucana/leghorn/Australorp mix decided to go broody on me... She is only 5 months old - is it normal for hens to go broody at such a young age? Do you think I can trust her to set eggs?
I was thinking about moving 5-8 of the 13 eggs...
