as far as instruments, what thermo/ hygrometers are people using.
I've got a couple cheap digitals combos and a brinsea spot check. The spot check has had nothing but issues and brinsea takes it's time with customer service.
I also have a wet bulb hygro that came with my hova. I have the hygro...
Thanks for the advice, I have a batch that is less then a week in, I will start dry incubation right away. I have a batch of 5 questionable eggs in the hatcher now, not expecting much come day 21.
But my ladies are laying again, and I can start working with non shipped eggs
I'm using an older model of hovabator for the incubation, and a diy coolerbator for hatching. There were a few eggs I was unsure about going into lockdown, but to have a 0 hatch.. I'm disappointed. I will give the dry method a go on my next batch, but I really feel like the damage was done in...
They all died. :( 4 of my 5 had a dark colored nasty to them, one had a nearly fully formed bird.
Any ideas on what would cause all my eggs to quit after day 18? As I candled them prior to entering my lockdown. Temps were good, humidity stayed at 55-70%.
Please help me, I really do not like...
Where I am, humidity is next to nothing, I struggled getting even 60%. And several eggs from my last batch died because they were unable to get through the shell membrane, it had dried around their heads after internal pipping.
My incubator also has a good airflow, lots of air coming in and...
It ended up glued to the floor in the morning. I got it off, rinsed it under gentle water and a soft tooth brush and really got some results.
Both chicks are in the brooder now, the rest of the eggs quit, I will open them up a bit later to see what happened. I think low temps and low humidity...
I do not think the newcomer is gonna make it. It's not as active as the first, and is stuck to a piece of shell by what looks like poo. Not like the first one at all.
Possibly an effect of overall low temp and possibly low humidity?
I will try to get a pic in the morning
Egg two has finally made it free from the egg,
I think the first hatched chick helped this one out, and is eating the egg shell bits.
Second chick looks real messy compared to the first, but I did not watch number one exit her shell, just saw the pip, came home from work and the baby was out.
I knew they would pip on the big end, my question was more in regards to whether the pip consistently happens at the upper most portion of the egg, or at random on the big end.
