I put them under it when I moved them from the hatcher because they all required help hatching and were weak so they weren't very mobile. I incubated in my LG bator then hatched them in my tote hatcher. If I had another heating pad I would try it again but I only have one.
Here you go. They are a week old and are Polish babies. I started with 5 but the cat got one... I tried to switch them to a lamp but they hated it. So for the next bunch to hatch they with have to stay in the hatcher to they cab get around and then join the older babies. I don't have any other...
I wish they would stay the size they were at a week old. Of and I've never told you. These three has s heating pad mom at night for a week and then I moved them outside. They get a heat lamp at night now but are super warm to the touch all the time
Congratulation Tomtommom! And happy birthday Bee!
Your birthday sends to be the day my eggs want to hatch. They are on day 22 but they are cheeping and tapping.
I understand. I have to get rid of most of my adultish birds to make room for the project I have in mind. Im tired of going through so much feed so the meaties have to go. Im going to keep one hen for a while and see how she lays
Luke is the black and yellow one. He's an Ancona duck. Sasha is a mixed breed goose. And Darkwing is a mixed breed duck.
I chose Ancona's because they are critically endangered, lay 270+ eggs s year, and if I ever wanted to process them mature similar to Cornish x, market weight around 9 weeks...
I love my 2 ducks. And for the first week they done weigh anything and are cool to the touch and ubber soft. Then bam.... weight and warmth. My Luke was my bubby while u was sick. He slept cuddled up to my neck. I'm so sorry to great about your duck and meatie but Im excited for you to be...
Congrats Bee!!!!
The only thing I have to say is do you have a way to check the humidity? I've heard a stolon chick can be caused by you high of humidity.
Yep he did because he hates to just jump into something so he googled how to process and you kept coming up.
And I agree with exposing them to the germs from the adult flock that's why I was using my box bator as s hatcher but I think it's to wet now so my dh is making me a new one that I will...
I want to add that a hen has the same bacteria as the shell does so it's not any thing foreign while we put them in super clean incubators and then touch then with our hands which in turn have touched any number of other things. I also have to say I learned the hard way today that I need to wash...
I have to say Bee that I'm glad you stuck it out and are now reaping the rewards of your hard work. You truly are an inspiration to many people myself included and now my DH since he spent yesterday reading everything you had to say about meat birds. We are preparing to start processing ours. I...
