Heres a blue double laced barnevelder baby. They are soooo cute!
These guys are my babies. Their names are Jack and Sally. I was watering my rabbits and Sally decided it was a good time to fly up onto my shoulder. I wasn't expecting it scared the crap out of me lol. Glad they like me that...
I woke up to 3 sets of beady eyes peering at me through the bator window. Still hoping a couple more barnevelders hatch. Today is the 21st day and they've been hatching 3 days now. I still hold out hope.
Here's some of my fuzz butts! 2 blue DL barnies so far and 3 buff orphingtons. Another barnie has externally pipped and theres a crack in another. Its day 20 so here's hoping more hatch!
Actually I think it was because he had just come out of the shell. His feet look more normal. Waiting on them to dry so I can put them in the brooder. They are knocking the other eggs all over the place!
One of my barnevelders just hatched! Sadly its feet are curled up towards the inside. Is that fixable? Another one has an external pip! Wooooooo hoooooo!
I'm just praying I didn't kill mine lol. Its my first hatch and I really really hope that with all my trials and errors that it will turn out decently. We shall see!
I'm on day 13. Hatch day is the 30th and I'm so excited I can't wait! I am going to candle tomorrow. I had done it early and was going to wait until tomorrow to candle but I had a rotten egg in the midst so I had to candle to find the stinky bugger. My barnevelders are developing nicely! I...
Please post pics! I have a hovabator still air and I also have a spare computer fan. I'd like to see how you wired and attached it. I'll put one in for my next hatch!
I'm doing a dry hatch. I haven't put a single drop of water in my incubator and it's day 9. My humidity is still in the 40s... sometimes up to 55. Of course I live in Oklahoma and humidity outside is like 85% lol. I had to candle my eggs because I was smelling a funk coming from the incubator...
Agreed! No need in counting unhatched chicks now! lol I have some Araucanas too! Just a pair and I don't think they are full blood but they are soooo close to laying age. I would definitely egg swap!
Thanks Kendy! lol Maybe if I get my barnevelder flock up and going I can send you a few eggs in the future! I'm not in it to get rich. I just love the breed. They are so beautiful!
I'm with you on this. This is my first time and I've had a heck of a time keeping temps correct. I'm hoping that they all aren't dead! I candled on day 4. Today is day 7 but I'm afraid to candle again. I don't want to handle them too much and cause more damage. Guess I'm going to have to be...
Oh ok! Well I did see some that were darker like that. I just couldn't see any veins. Should I just wait until day 14 to candle again? These are shipped eggs and I don't want to hurt them by handling them too much. I'm just worried about bad eggs exploding lol. My bator is in my room so that...
Well today is day 5. I will candle on Saturday. I attempted to candle last night but my barnevelder eggs are too dark to see any veins. Is it normal to miss them at this age? Will I be able to see anything a little later?
