So he will either become dinner, replace our current rooster (current rooster is a butthead) or go with our silkie flock if we odnt have nay silkie roosters. He is a speckled sussex/ Redsex link mix so not sure what laced is or if he would be laced. I kow...

they came from a standard egg so I am thinking standard? they have characteristics of silkies. 5 toes, beard, crest, feathered feet. one of the redsex link/silkie crosses has 4 toes on one foot and 5 on the other. the have splotches of black on their skin, their beaks are dark, but not as dark...

Yeah mine doesn't get into the actual incubation much either. I was surprised he even checked on them haha! My hatch rate for my last batch of shipped silkie eggs wasn't too great. got 8, 3 blood lines, 3 clears, 2 made it into lockdown. one internally piped through a vein in the membrane and...

He was upset when Faith died too, But it's nature. I always put more in then I need. Did I mention I have...

the thing that gets me is I had her out a few hours before she passed, like I do all chicks when they turn 1 week. She was out with me and my husband exploring the kitchen floor for about 5 minutes, since it wasn't cold in the house. She had a deep dish for food that she liked sleeping on, I was...

He hasn't ate or drank on his own yet I am still showing him where everything is. Think it may be harder with only one eye. But he is active walking around. Yesterday was spent mostly sleeping. Plus he still has the yolk in him so he may not feel the need to eat and drink yet. I was told that he...

I think the first one will make it. S/he is being very active. I am going to introduce Him/her to Lucky later on today. s/he is walking on its own and more active now that it slept. I have more Silkies coming in about 2 weeks. They are from a different person from E-bay so I am hoping no genetic...

Other chick did not make it. I piped it myself, just a small hole to see i it was alive. It was not. So opened it up to see if it had the same effects as the one who hatched this morning. It also has a cross over beak, couldn't see the eyes though. So my guess is the cross over beak is a genetic...

Well the baby detached on itself. Poor thing has so many problems dont know if it is genetics. E-bay eggs so I can't say. His right eye never fully formed and has a cross beak. S/he will not be used for breeding. s/he is the only one that hatched. only 2 made it to lockdown. I still have 1 more...
