August Hatch-A-Long

Oh i know I won't be sleeping until at least one is out LOL!

And thank you :) The original wasn't so good, had to edit it a bit.
LOL...snacks, coffee(or diet coke if you are me!) and some good TV shows to catch up on while you wait......wait.....wait.....

My last hatch I just dozed off for an hour here or there. Hubby thought I was crazy but you just can't sleep when your worrying about them hatching out !

Oh I know! I have yet to have a normal hatch! Everyone pips too early. I think my temps may be off might be incubating too high and why I get early hatches. He is in there peeping away. I was Lucky near the incubator and they are peeping back and forth its so cute! Wish I could get that on video.

Awwww...Lucky is telling that baby she wants some company!!! It is so cute how the chicks that hatch peep at the ones in process of hatching for encouragement

I have had early hatches from temps to high and late hatches from temps too low. I am always just so afraid to mess with the temps once the eggs are in there!

I hope at least one makes it so Lucky has a friend. I just hope the beak isnt too far messed up so s/he can eat/drink and groom. I don't know ho wI would feel about culling the only other chick that Lucky is exposed to. I heard there is a splint you can make with a rubber band so I might try that. I know it will never be 100% normal but maybe it will help it from being real bad as s/he gets older. As long as s/he is not suffering then Lucky will have him/her as a friend :)

I am a nut about the temp lol The temp as been 100-101 the entire time. And it is a still air. I check the thermometer before each incubation so who knows whats going on. I have more silkies due Oct 16th so Hopefully I get some more healthy babies from that hatch!

I agree, as long as the chick grows healthy and happy then all is good. I have never seen a "bent" beak so curious to see how it looks as the chick grows. I think I have read with the scissor beak that some have trimmed the beak to help with eating and grooming but my quail wasn't too severe and did just fine!

Mine is still air as well and I think that environment must affect it sometimes because it is always steady before I set my eggs....and I do not always get the temps going up or down...but still learning!

I LOVE silkie babies,,,so adorable and tiny

Baby is anxious to be out with Lucky!!!!!!

Managed to get some photos of him :) Thinking he may be a white silkie now. I can't wait until he hatches, and dries out. His beak looks real messed up now that his head is visable on both sides. Poor baby.
